Very good, simple food. I am a bit biased aboit this place having grown up on Mr Hot Dog but if that's what you're looking for then thus is the place. The coney sauce(also know as hot dog sauce or chili sauce, depending on where you're from) is excellent and has a bit of sweetness tobit. Overall good, simple food.

Gross and disgusting! I will never come back. And... it was filled with dirty old men. Ew.

An institution built not only on buns alone, Mr. Hot Dog generates a new level of delicious food for cheap prices. Their special of the month hovers around the dollar range. Oddly enough, their fish dinners are some of the best in town. Why four stars? The ambiance, while kitschy and pleasantly stuck in the 80s, needs some music. Someone plug in an 80s pandora station that sounds like what WIOG used to be when a lizard was their mascot.

Another of Ken's Bay City institutions - when I want to really look like the wonderful wife I'll say 'We should get Mr. Hot Dog before we leave', and I'm golden for a couple of weeks. I'll admit that it has grown on me over the years - I hated the coney sauce my first time there. Cash only

The food is fairly priced and decent enough. Although the whole place kinda gives off this trashy and dirty vibe. You can't help but feel that they are kind of on their last leg. They could definitely use a remodel or something.

Mr Hot Dog, a Bay City institution, a destination fast food restaurant. Walter gets the Double Double (two hamburger patties two pieces of cheese) with everything PLUS coney sauce.

I grew up in Bay City. Back in the '70s there were, I believe, three or four Mr. Hot Dog restaurants. Sadly, today, there is but one left. As the name suggests, they specialize in ... Hot Dogs! They have 3-4 four variants: Plain, Coney (with Coney Island sauce), Coney Plus (the former PLUS onions and a dill pickle spear), and Coney Plus Cheese. Frankly (pun intended) I LOVE their hot dogs! Just the right combination of flavors on a Kogels [better-than-average] frankfurter in a soft bun. Their hamburgers are fairly awful, and always have been for 30+ years; ditto for their fries. But the 'dogs are as good as they always have been. They recently introduced the Coney 'Burger, for about a buck. I tried one and it wasn't all that good. But then, I think it was sitting in the warmer for "a while", whereas the dogs are made up on demand. They have fish dinners of some sort, but I've never sampled them. And they USED to have Mr. Pibb, a Dr. Pepper soft-drink clone that may be hard to find outside of Michigan. But now it seems they have Coke products only ... which isn't a bad thing. --- What did the Buddhist Monk say to the hot dog vendor? "Make me One with Everything."

The ONLY reason I gave this place 4 stars is their fries. Better than McDonald's, because you can tell Mr. Hot Dog's fries are pretty much just potatoes, hot oil and salt. The place has a homey comfortableness and the prices are unbeatable. I love that they serve Koegel's, but my hot dog came out cold. My dining companion's coney also had a cold dog, but the coney sauce was warm enough and tasty enough. I like their hamburgers too, which are just what a cheap burger should be. My dad, a Bay City native and long-time Mr. Hot Dog patron, says next time to just tell them to heat the dog up. I would have done so at the time, but I was too busy scarfing down the fries.

Good old Mr. Hot Dog. A Tri-City icon for decades. Yes the place is stuck in the 80s. Yes it may need some renovations. But the core product of coney dogs and the fish meal are the best anywhere in this part of the state. And the stuck-in-a-time warp hook is charming and has its place. My most recent trip just a few days ago did not disappoint. It's the same exact meal I can remember from years past. If you enjoy food that has remained the exact same as you remember it, give Mr. Hot Dog a try once again.

Delicious food been around time for a long time prices are good. Horrible part is the staff there. If you want to see upset grumpy don't care about their job faces then here is your place to be. Just bothers me where's the customer service...

Went to this place yesterday 6/7/2015 and ordered food for the family. Order a seafood DINNER and some coney dogs and got home to find the dinner missing fish and shrimp from it. Returned to the restaurant and spoke with the girls at the register. They took my food back and the owner came up front and opened the register and gave my money back and told me" you don't like the food then leave" all I waned was what I paid for. Instead I'm thanked for the years of parentage with a "get out of my restaurant" 10 years plus I've been coming here. My family my wife and her family have been coming here since the place opened. I will never go here to eat again and I suggest if you do eat here and have a problem with the food don't complain or you will get kicked out and threatened to have the police called. Thank you and have a great day. And also I went to Long John's Silver's and got the same meal but more food and great service for basically the same price and it was hot as well.

Oh the memories! And, one of my first stops when I get to town. Really! Their fish is absolutely the BEST! I've debated getting the family bucket and eating it by myself. Cheese coneys? Keek um coming. Steak sandwiches, cheeseburgers and let's not forget the onion rings or fries. Did I mention shrimp? Well, I should have. Wish they were closer. Next time I'm in BC you can bet that first stop will be Mr Hot Dog! What I'd give for a fish dinner right now.

The five stars is not for the quality of their other food items or for the decor or ambience, but rather for the best coneys in town. The buns are unbelievably soft, the coney sauce just the right combination of tangy and tasty, and the hot dogs are Koegels. I like mine slathered in mustard and covered in onions. You can order them any way you like. The coneys are cheap, delicious and will warm you up. Mister Hot Dog was once owned by Mike Lefkiades, a true renaissance gentleman with a flair for the funny story and a deep and abiding love of history and politics. Mike recently passed away and he will be missed. Fortunately for Mister Hotdog, the coneys are just as good now as they were hen Mike ran the show.

Great place for those good ol' fashioned Coney Dogs. Best french fries in Bay City!
